About The Artist

                                               Artist's Statement

"I love to try to capture the serenity of a mountain lake, the brilliance of Tuscan poppies, the effect of  light on water, the mystery of the air in Venice and the interplay of people. My greatest satisfaction occurs when people experience these special moments though my work.."


Mary Ann was born in Northern Ontario , Canada of Italian descent. She paints under her maiden name - Tarini. After a family move to Calgary Alberta , she began a serious pursuit of her lifelong love of painting. The Rocky Mountains and Italian landscapes provide ideal creative inspiration for many of her pieces.  Mary Ann attends classes and  workshops led by talented artists and teachers in Canada and Italy as she explores and develops as an artist. She paints in her studio and particularly loves the challenge of  light, colors and structure in plein air.

She is a member of the Calgary Artist Society, the   Leighton Art Centre and the Federation of Canadian Artists.
